The Educational Resources pack on the life and work of Saint David and the NSDDP official song were officially launched at the National Assembly of Wales by the Presiding Officer, Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas at the end of January 2008, and during that year backing tracks of the song were available through the National Grid for Learning Wales for download to over 2,200 schools throughout Wales so that they could use it and perform it in their school concerts if they so chose. Go to: http://www.ngfl-cymru.org.uk/ or go to http://www.gcad-cymru.org.uk/vtc/ngfl/2007-08/wsl/irf23/dewi_sant_mp3/c_index.html for the exact location of the song and project. As a result of the success of last year’s educational pack of resources on the life and work of Saint David for Key Stage One developed last year, the NGfL have developed an additional pack of resources for Key Stage 2 and an educational pack of resources for Special Educational Needs pupils. Following the incredible success and popularity of ‘Cenwch y Clychau i Dewi’, official song of the National Saint David’s Day Parade (NSDDP), in the year since it was launched by Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas, Presiding Officer at the National Assembly of Wales, many have asked if it could be possible to have a manuscript of the song. Gwenno Dafydd (who wrote both the Welsh and English lyrics) and Heulwen Thomas, who composed the original music decided to commission the very exciting and immensely talented Eliyr Owen Griffiths to write some choral arrangements of the song for them. There are now four versions of the song available to buy at www.ylolfa.com : Male Voice Choir, Female Voice Choir and Mixed Voice (SATB) Choir and a Piano and Voice version which will appeal to soloists and schools. Backing tracks and vocal tracks sung in both Welsh and English by Gwenno Dafydd are now available from www.downloadfactor.com
