(in Welsh below; itinerary also below) St David's Message 2011 (from the Bishop of St David’s See, the Rt Rev’d Wyn Evans) Our Patron Saint, Dewi Sant, lived at a time when the Welsh nation was beginning to emerge into light from the end of the Roman Empire. 2011, likewise marks a time of change when the people of Wales will be called upon to decide on the way in which they wish to be governed. The first decision is to be made in two day’s time, when Wales will vote on whether or not laws should be made in Wales not Westminster, to make a better future for Wales. The second decision will be taken on 5th May, when the people of our country will be called upon to elect new members to the Senedd. Those elected will bear a weight of responsibility as they exercise their duties conscientiously, in the interests of their constituents, and of the whole nation. Those elected to the Senedd already have the responsibilities which the powers to create new, just laws for the benefit of the people, put on them. If the referendum on 3rd of March recommends that they be granted the additional power to make laws in all the devolved subjects, this will put the added weight of responsibility on their shoulders. It is of fundamental importance that those elected have the strength of character to take on this heavy load on behalf of the people of our country. It is in their power, with our willing support, to transform our nation, in spite of the difficulties which confront both Wales and the world in the coming years. Those elected to this high office are called to inspire the nation to work with them to better our future. The third referendum, also on Election Day, 5th May, is about the way we vote, and the number of representatives we, as a people have in the Parliament in London. This decision is also one which needs careful consideration. We must all therefore have confidence and faith that at the end of the year, and in future years, we will be able to look back on 2011 and say that this was the year when things started to get better - by doing “The little things” which have great results. Anerchiad Gŵyl Dewi 2011 (gan Esgob Tŷ Ddewi, Y Gwir Barchedig Wyn Evans) Yng nghyfnod Dewi Sant, ar ôl terfyn yr Ymerodraeth Rufeinig, daeth y genedl Gymreig i’r golwg. Yn ein cyfnod ninnau, y mae’r flwyddyn 2011 yn dynodi newid pan gelwir ar y genedl Gymreig i benderfynu ar y modd y llywodraethir hi. Bydd tri pheth yn digwydd yn ystod 2011. Yn gyntaf, mewn deuddydd bydd Cymru yn pleidleisio er mwyn sicrhau dyfodol gwell i’r genedl drwy wneud cyfreithiau yng Nghaerdydd yn hytrach nag yn San Steffan. Yn ail, ar 5ed Mai, bydd bobl Cymru yn ethol aelodau newydd i’r Senedd. Bydd y sawl a etholir yn dwyn cyfrifoldeb drom wrth ymgymryd a’u dyletswyddau yn gydwybodol er lles yr etholwyr a’r genedl gyfan. Y mae Aelodau’r Senedd eisoes yn berchen ar y gallu i greu cyfreithiau newydd cyfiawn er lles y bobl. Os bydd refferendwm 3ydd Mawrth yn argymell y grym ychwanegol i ddeddfu ar gyfer pob mater datganoledig, bydd cyfrifoldeb ychwanegol yn gorffwys ar eu hysgwyddau. Er mwyn ymgymryd â’r baich trwm hwn ar ran y genedl, bydd yn rhaid i’r rhai a etholir berchen ar rym cymeriad. Iddynt hwy y perthyn y fraint o drawsnewid ein cenedl, er gwaethaf y trafferthion fydd yn wynebu Cymru a’r byd yn y blynyddoedd sydd ar ddod. Gelwir y sawl a etholir i’r aruchel swydd hon i ysbrydoli’r genedl i gydweithio â hwy er mwyn sicrhau dyfodol gwell i bawb ohonom. Yn drydydd, ar 5ed Mai, Diwrnod yr Etholiad, cynhelir refferendwm arall yn ymwneud â dull pleidleisio, a’r nifer o gynrychiolwyr fydd gennym fel cenedl yn Nhŷ’r Cyffredin yn Llundain. Y mae angen ystyriaeth ofalus wrth i ni benderfynu. Felly, y mae’n rhaid i ni gyd fod yn hyderus a ffyddiog y byddwn ar ddiwedd y flwyddyn ac yn y dyfodol yn gallu edrych yn ôl ar 2011 a dweud mai yn y flwyddyn hon y daeth y gwelliant - drwy wneud y pethau bychain sydd yn dod â phethau mawrion yn eu sgil.
